RR10 – Itchen Valley Race #2 (2023)

Race number 2 was back to the familiar setting of Itchen Valley country park. And with thankfully no traffic related mishaps 6 runners safely lined up at the starting line. The only potential hitch was a very stubborn parking machine which refused point blank to take any form of payment, but with plenty of timeContinue reading “RR10 – Itchen Valley Race #2 (2023)”

CC6 Holmsley Campsite (22/23) Race 4

The fourth race of this year’s CC6 was at Holmsley campsite, near Burley, in the New Forest. We just about scraped a team together and four Wessex runners arrived to race. Weather conditions were good, a little chilly, mostly dry and minimal wind. The start line was a few minutes walk from the car park.Continue reading “CC6 Holmsley Campsite (22/23) Race 4”

CC6 Ocknell Campsite, Race 1 (22/23)

The first race of the 2022/23 CC6 was at Ocknell, in the New Forest. It was a cracking day, with the Forest looking splendid, some autumnal changes in the leaves and clear skies. RR10 Whiteshute Ridge, Badger Farm (2022)

After the flat, open spaces at the previous RR10 (Wide Lane) this race was a different kettle of fish. Runners, some tents and flags were packed onto Whiteshute Ridge (Badger Farm, Winchester) for the penultimate RR10 of the season. It seemed more like a budget Glastonbury than a trail race, with not enough room toContinue reading “RR10 Whiteshute Ridge, Badger Farm (2022)”

RR10 University Playing Fields, Wide Lane (2022)

Race 8 of this year’s RR10 took part at Wide Lane. Following record UK temperatures on the previous two days, Wessex runners were pleased to see a slightly cooler and cloudy evening was forecast. Five runners were scheduled to attend so another team result was on the cards. There was another good turnout from otherContinue reading “RR10 University Playing Fields, Wide Lane (2022)”

RR10 Itchen Valley

Glorious sunny cross county running on a Wednesday night, what could be better! The second RR10 of 2022 took place in Itchen Valley country park and judging from numbers it seemed to have a strong attendance as the park seemed very full of clubs (including 2 new ones) who were all well represented. Wessex hadContinue reading “RR10 Itchen Valley”

CC6 Fleming Park

The final CC6 of the season was back to Fleming Park for a three lap course. The weather was unseasonably warm and very un-cross country like with firm conditions underfoot and not a hint of mud anywhere. There was a rumour that Derek was all set to win this season’s V70 category but this wasContinue reading “CC6 Fleming Park”
