The farthest away of this year’s RR10 series (at least from Winchester) required a drive down to the edge of the New Forest, any further and we would have ended up in The Solent. It wasn’t a straightforward trip this year with roadworks, diversions, traffic jams and the occasional pony slowing both Wessex cars down.Continue reading “RR10 #4 – Cadland Estate (2023)”

RR10 #3 River Hamble Country Park (2023)
Race three of this year’s RR10 was at the River Hamble Country Park, a familiar location on the RR10 calendar and indeed we are back later in the Summer for race number seven. It was a lovely sunny evening and a few dry days beforehand boded well for a fast course with little mud. ChrisContinue reading “RR10 #3 River Hamble Country Park (2023)”
RR10 Fleming Park (2023)
The first race of this year’s RR10 was at Fleming Park. An excellent turn out from Wessex with two new runners (welcome to Andrew and Chris), it could have been even better if it wasn’t for the parking. Poor Phil got stuck in traffic with queues to get into the car par extensive, meaning heContinue reading “RR10 Fleming Park (2023)”
CC6 Holmsley Campsite (22/23) Race 4
The fourth race of this year’s CC6 was at Holmsley campsite, near Burley, in the New Forest. We just about scraped a team together and four Wessex runners arrived to race. Weather conditions were good, a little chilly, mostly dry and minimal wind. The start line was a few minutes walk from the car park.Continue reading “CC6 Holmsley Campsite (22/23) Race 4”
CC6 Ocknell Campsite, Race 1 (22/23)
The first race of the 2022/23 CC6 was at Ocknell, in the New Forest. It was a cracking day, with the Forest looking splendid, some autumnal changes in the leaves and clear skies. Unfortunately I saw a bit too much it. Foolishly I relied on my phone’s Sat Nav to get me there and spentContinue reading “CC6 Ocknell Campsite, Race 1 (22/23)”
RR10 Whiteshute Ridge, Badger Farm (2022)
After the flat, open spaces at the previous RR10 (Wide Lane) this race was a different kettle of fish. Runners, some tents and flags were packed onto Whiteshute Ridge (Badger Farm, Winchester) for the penultimate RR10 of the season. It seemed more like a budget Glastonbury than a trail race, with not enough room toContinue reading “RR10 Whiteshute Ridge, Badger Farm (2022)”
RR10 University Playing Fields, Wide Lane (2022)
Race 8 of this year’s RR10 took part at Wide Lane. Following record UK temperatures on the previous two days, Wessex runners were pleased to see a slightly cooler and cloudy evening was forecast. Five runners were scheduled to attend so another team result was on the cards. There was another good turnout from otherContinue reading “RR10 University Playing Fields, Wide Lane (2022)”
RR10 River Hamble
Race 7 of the RR10 series took place at Hamble county park for the second time this season This tough route was the same in parts but was as always a difficult one to crack pacing wise. Phil, Nigel, Doug and Richard made up the runners (just 1 short of a team) with supporters PeterContinue reading “RR10 River Hamble”
RR10 Ridge Farm (2022)
A new destination for the RR10, Ridge Farm (New Forest Outdoor Learning Centre) near Romsey was the location. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, ease parking at venues and boost team spirit I decided to pick all the runners up from Winchester and take them in my car. So began the great trekContinue reading “RR10 Ridge Farm (2022)”
RR10 Manor Farm (2022)
Race three of this year’s RR10 was held at Manor Farm (Hamble Country Park). It was another nice evening, perfect for running, although with a threat of rain later. It was a small Wessex turnout, Phil and myself were chauffeured there by Richard (recovering from injury) but then there was a pleasant surprise when aContinue reading “RR10 Manor Farm (2022)”
