The final RR10 of the 2026 took place, as usual, at IBM Hursley. This was despite a recent fire, destroying the clubhouse. We were grateful for IBM allowing us to hold the event despite the disruption to the site. It meant a slight change to the course, no longer finishing around the cricket pitch.
With Wessex having to sit out Race 7 (to even up numbers after previous cancellations) there was enthusiasm to make the final event of the season. 12 runners made it to the start line (and ultimately to the finish) with Gary making his season debut (never too late!).
It was a three lap course. Early on in the route there was some wear and tear to the path, making it a real trip hazard. Otherwise the course was pretty smooth and firm underfoot – despite some rarely seen rain in the days before. There were a couple of lung busting climbs but then we were rewarded with a fast downhill section just before the end of the lap.
All Wessex home in the order of – Men’s : Sam (59), Archie (147), Mike (154), Chris (208), Gary (210), Alasdair (214), Anthony (225), Daniel (243), Nigel (244), David H (250), Richard (276). Ladies’ : Imy (43).

A good finish to a somewhat disrupted season. Well done to Imy (Ladies’) and Chris (Men’s) for being the top Wessex RR10 runners. A great effort by Richard and David H competing in all the races. A good Men’s team result – finishing 32nd out of 73 teams (exactly the same position in 2025) and we need more Ladies to help Imy!
CC6 season starts soon and will suggest some AGM dates.
