A rough, tough race at Badger Farm this year, despite a change to the route. The weather had picked up nicely during the day, showers giving way to sunshine. We had a good turnout of runners in the end with Andrew and Mike just making it to the start in time.
Instead of running down Whiteshute Ridge (as was usual in previous races) we had an uphill start with a very brief, short, loop before heading into the trees and the narrow paths. Runners made their way in single file, continuing uphill and then a pleasant, long, descent into Compton. A sharp turn at the bottom, another steep climb and then the course opened up nicely. There were some gravel paths which seemed new, leading back to Oliver’s Battery. A final short loop again at Whiteshute Ridge to the finish.
Unfortunately the course resulted in a few casualties with Sam taking a tumble, twisting his ankle and unfortunately unable to finish. Richard also had a fall but managed to carry on despite a not insignificant haemorrhage! He was greeted at the finish line by the (very helpful) medical team.
Runners home in the order : Men’s – Will (70), Andrew (123), Mike (136), Chris (190), David (213), Nigel (222) and Richard (231). Ladies’ – Imi (27), Katie (151) and Kavitha (152). Team results all round.
