Hamble is always an excellent RR10 course but slightly tricky to get to – queuing off the motorway junction, a slow drive through the park itself to park up and then a long walk to the start from the car park. Take note, leave earlier than you think. We had a good turnout of runners though, right across the age spectrum and both a men’s team and a ladies’ team.
Before the race, Peter picked up a trophy – well done! A new incentive from last year’s CC6, winning the Male 55 category.
We all know the course pretty well by now. It was dry and firm underfoot. A short loop to start, a bit of congestion but then soon opened out nicely. Very undulating and difficult to get a good running rhythm – especially with the nasty short, sharp, hill just before the finish.
Everyone home in the order of Sam (65), Peter (113), Alasdair (213), Nigel (242), David H (248), Anthony (262) and Richard (277). Ladies’ race – Imy (31), Katie (190) and Kavitha (191).
Good team results all round and onto the next race, everyone’s favourite, Badger Farm in two week’s time.
