Penultimate RR10 of 2021
Race number four took place in the New Forest at Blackfield. Start and the finish location was at a sports field with a one lap course out into a lovely mix of heathland and tree lined trail with the Fawley chimney close by and the hum of some power lines overhead.
The general consensus afterwards was that the course was a blinder. A one lap route with some great variety of terrain with nice avoidable mud, some short sharp hills, and lots of pleasant trails to gallivant along. All round a highly enjoyable cross country route with the weather also being kind after all the recent rain.
We didn’t quite make it team wise this week with four runners competing. Phil, Andy, Dave S and Dave H all ran well and enjoyed the course immensely. This will definitely be one to look forward to when the next season rolls around.
Additionally the buzz of the evening was obviously infectious as a young chap playing football nearby joined the race for a sprint down to the finish. He even took a ticket, and who could blame him for wanting to join in!
We are dropping out of the next one at Hursley, so the 6th and final race is a return to Eastleigh.
