RR10 2025 #10 – IBM Hursley

The final RR10 of 2025 was, as usual, at IBM Hursley. A party atmosphere was present with some other teams having slabs of beer (noted for next year) for post race celebrations. A good turnout by all teams, with all flags / tents concentrated in a small area by the start.

An excellent turnout from Wessex again, enough to field an A and a B team. It was good to see David S making the start line, bookending the season nicely having had attended race #1 and Andy Cable making an end of season appearance. Unfortunately only Katie was available to represent the Ladies’ team.

A similar course to last year, although the finish had moved from the top cricket pitch to beside the start, this shortened the race considerably to only 6.7 Km (shortest RR10 ever?). We were told the route had been changed due to a cricket match taking place on the top pitch – although having walked up to the IBM social club post race there was no evidence of cricket action or the covers being removed.

A couple of short loops from the start and then two longer loops further around the IBM site, a couple of sharp hills but nothing terrible, followed by a long incline. Finally another short loop to the finish.

Runners home in the order of : Andrew S (117), Mike (127), Daniel (165), Chris (205), Gary (206), Nigel (214), David S (238), Derek (254), Anthony (258), Andy C (264), David H (266) and Richard (274). Katie finished in place 150.

A good end of year result for Wessex A Men’s team, finishing 32nd out of 71 teams, consistently fielding a full team at each race – well done all.

Top male runner for Wessex (having completed in at least six races) was Andrew Shire, finishing 131st out of 624 runners. Will would have been well out in front if he had completed one further race.

Top lady runner was Imy with consistently excellent running, finishing a superb 30th out of 465 runners.

Mr Consistent goes to Richard, the only Wessex runner to make all RR10 events this season (including organising Ampfield Woods), great running.

A good 2025 RR10 and now onto the CC6. An AGM date will be suggested soon, some new kit has arrived for distribution and we go again.
