RR 10 #8 – Wide Lane (2023)

I appreciate that this is not everyone’s favourite RR10. It is pretty dull, it is surrounded by motorway/railway/airport and is just like running round one big football pitch. However, I like it. It is flat and it is the only course that I remember well, knowing exactly where the finish line is and when it will come. Perhaps I should resurrect my track career?

It was another lovely evening, with a stiff breeze fluttering the Wessex flag (on its second outing). An easy drive from Winchester allowed plenty of time for a warm up and some stretching. A smaller turnout from previous races, only six of us but still enough to maintain our team result streak.

A nice wide start made it easy to get away and get into an early rhythm. One lap of a small loop, through the underpass, two laps of the large loop, back through the underpass and a final lap of the small loop. Simple.

Runners home in the order – Phil (111), Nigel (185), David S (201), Chris (204), David H (237)and Richard (252). In the team league table we are currently sitting 36th out of 68 teams with two races remaining.
